The convent of the nuns is situated in the highlands of Guatemala.

The "Mothers of the abandoned“ take care literally of the abandoned, by running a children's home, a school, several lunch rooms and a medical emergency ward.

Since 2001 we have been cooperating on site with the missionary nuns, who have a profound knowledge of the family and village structures and always assist us with the selection, realization and aftercare of the projects.

The "Madres de Desamparados" stand as firm as a rock in one of America’s poorest regions. They represent a moral authority in a country that is marked by civil war.

Up to 45 people from San Cristobal have a regular employment in the convent;
a wage and a job under humane conditions.

Projekthilfe-Guatemala supports, amongst other things, the nuns' labour with donations.
